Peri-Peri spice mix adds superb flavor to any fried snack, such as French fries. Though it can be bought in packaged form at supermarkets, you can have a lot more control over the ingredients that go into this if you make the spice mix yourself.
The list of ingredients required for Peri-Peri is not very long. If you have onion powder, garlic powder, ginger powder, paprika, salt, and sugar, you are almost there. You can taste the spice mix and add something of your choice if you like. Just get creative and enhance it.
In this recipe video here, you will see two categories of spice mixes, one of fine powders and another coarse mix. First, garlic powder, ginger powder, onion powder, salt, Kashmiri red chili powder (can use sweet paprika instead), and black salt are mixed. Then another coarse mix of a few more ingredients is made – sugar, citric acid, chili flakes, and oregano. This coarse mix is then added to the fine mix made earlier and everything is mixed well again. There, homemade Peri-Peri spice mix is ready.
If stored carefully in a clean and dry bottle, this mix should be good for a couple of months.
