Crispy fried tofu is the first tofu recipe that a tofu beginner can make. It is not only the easiest tofu recipe but is also the one that cannot go wrong. The list of ingredients for the recipe is also very short: a block of firm tofu, corn starch, paprika powder, black pepper, salt, and oil to fry.
There are just a couple of things that you need to be careful about. One, buy fresh tofu because, after frying, the tofu needs to be crispy outside but soft inside. And two, squeeze as much water as possible from the tofu before coating it with starch and spices.
You can vary the flavor of the snack according to your taste. One possibility is to fry the tofu without adding any spices, and later you can sprinkle on a spice mix of your choice, maybe peri peri powder or something.
You can change the size and shape of the pieces of tofu. Maybe triangles or strips, etc. And as is suggested in the video, you can turn this into a curry by mixing the fried tofu in a sauce. It will make a fine meal along with steamed rice.
