How To Make Mozambican Peri-Peri Sauce: Recipe Video

Need a hot sauce to use in your cooking? Only a few work as well as this Peri-Peri sauce (also spelled Piri-Piri) from Mozambique. It is a simple recipe and the ingredients that go into this are almost easy to find. Peri-Peri sauce is primarily used a marinade, but it can also be used as a seasoning.

The beauty of this recipe is not just due to its simplicity, but also because of how complete it feels when all the ingredients have been mixed in and cooked, and then in the end more lemon zest, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil are added. The final product looks and tastes so real. You can’t buy anything like that in a store.

The only ingredient of this sauce that may be hard to find in one’s location is the African Bird’s Eye chili. I guess any high-heat red chili can be used as an alternative. It may take a few tries to find the ideal ratio of red peppers, low-heat and high-heat chilies to use in the recipe. Peri-Peri sauce prepared as shown in the video can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks.
